Harnessing Plant Magic: The Power of Mushrooms and Cannabis

🌿✨ Wodin’s Day Wisdom  ✨🌿 Plant Magic in Practice: Mushrooms, Cannabis, and the Witch Within

Hey, beautiful souls! 💫

It’s Wodin’s Day, and today we’re talking about two beloved allies I’ve brought into my life and magical practice: medicinal mushrooms 🍄 and cannabis 🌿. These humble yet powerful plants support not only my health and clarity—but also deepen my connection to spirit, ritual, and the divine. Through the rich tapestry of my daily routines, I incorporate these gifts of nature, allowing their unique properties to enhance my meditation and mindfulness practices.

The medicinal mushrooms, with their myriad of benefits like boosting the immune system and promoting mental clarity, serve as a grounding force, while cannabis expands my creative horizons and elevates my spiritual explorations. This harmonious blend nurtures not just my physical well-being but also opens channels for greater insight and inspiration, inviting the sacred into the everyday. As I honor these precious plants, I find myself weaving a more vibrant narrative of life, infused with gratitude and reverence for the natural world.

Both are sacred, ancient tools that bridge my path as a Green Witch and a Kitchen Witch, and they reflect the subtle, magical duality found in nature and in ourselves. The lush herbs I cultivate in my garden serve not only as ingredients, but also as symbols of life, growth, and the interconnectedness of all living things, reminding me of the energy flow that exists between us and the earth.

Similarly, the pots and pans in my kitchen transform simple ingredients into nourishing meals, infusing love and intention into every recipe I create. This harmonious balance between the earth’s bounty and the culinary arts reveals a deeper understanding of the cycles of nature, where both creation and sustenance coalesce, enriching both body and spirit through the practice of these sacred crafts.

🌱 Green Witch vs. Kitchen Witch – Sacred Sisters in Practice

Green Witches work closely with the land—honoring the cycles, the plants, the trees, and the spirits of place. They cultivate a deep connection with nature, understanding the importance of each season and the unique offerings it brings. By observing the natural world around them, they embrace traditional practices that enhance their magical work, such as planting by the moon phases and foraging for local herbs. Through rituals and spells, they seek to foster harmony between themselves and the environment, creating a sacred space that reflects the beauty and wisdom of the earth. In their practice, Green Witches not only draw from the earth’s resources but also give back, ensuring the sustainability of the ecosystems they cherish.

Kitchen Witches bring that nature-based magic to the hearth—stirring potions, baking intentions, and weaving enchantment into daily life. Each meal prepared is not just a routine task; it becomes a sacred ritual, infused with the energy of fresh herbs and vibrant spices harvested at the right lunar phases. With every stir of the pot, they connect deeply with the elements, channeling the transformative power of food as they create elixirs of love, joy, and healing. The aromas dancing in the air hold the whispers of ancient traditions, reminding us that even in the chaos of modern living, the hearth remains a sacred space where intention and nourishment blend seamlessly, fostering a sense of community and belonging around the dining table.

I live in both these worlds. And like these witchy paths, mushrooms and cannabis are similar, yet beautifully different: each offers a unique journey that enriches my experience of reality in varied ways. The earthy aroma of mushrooms, with their enchanting allure, invites curiosity and encourages introspection, while cannabis, with its vibrant array of strains, promotes relaxation and social connections. These two natural elements intertwine through their historical uses in various cultures, serving as gateways to altered states of consciousness and deeper understanding of ourselves and the universe. Both lead to moments of clarity, creativity, and exploration, showcasing the intricate dance of nature’s gifts that inspire and awaken our senses.

🍄 Mushrooms – The Rooted Wisdom of the Earth

Medicinal mushrooms like Lion’s Mane, Reishi, Cordyceps, and Chaga have been part of herbal traditions for centuries. I use them mainly in coffee blends or tinctures. Why?

🔸 Lion’s Mane: Boosts memory, mental clarity, and focus (hello, ADHD brain support!)
🔸 Reishi: Calms the nervous system, promotes sleep, and supports immune health
🔸 Cordyceps: Enhances energy and endurance—perfect for those sluggish, painful days
🔸 Chaga: Full of antioxidants and great for inflammation & healthy tummy!

These fungi work with your body, not against it. My mushroom coffee has become a morning ritual that helps me start my day focused but not jittery—and that’s a game changer for someone like me who deals with chronic pain, fatigue, and neurodivergence. The unique blend of adaptogenic mushrooms not only enhances my mental clarity but also supports a gentle energy boost that lasts all morning long. Each sip brings a sense of calm and balance, making it easier to navigate the challenges of daily life. I find that the complexities of fibro fog are notably diminished, allowing me to engage more fully in activities that I once found overwhelming. It’s truly amazing how these powerful fungi can create such a positive shift in my overall well-being. [ SO MUCH BETTER! Fibro Fog? Barely there you guys!]

Mushrooms are deeply connected to the Earth’s neural network—quiet, intelligent, and healing. They represent introspection, clarity, and connection, much like a Green Witch’s craft.

Use in ritual:
🌞 In your morning mushroom coffee, invite focus and purpose.
🌿 Speak intentions into the cup—your thoughts will flow through the mycelial web of energy.
🕯️ Offer a small portion to Earth spirits, fae, or deities of wisdom and forests.

🌿 Cannabis – The Hearth’s Sacred Smoke

Cannabis isn’t just recreational—it’s medicinal. I’ve been using a carefully balanced combo of CBD and THC to support:

🌬️ Pain relief (PsA, fibro warriors—this is for you!)
🧠 Mental clarity and reduced anxiety
💤 Better sleep
🌀 Increased ease of movement and less stiffness in the morning

Here’s how I like to work with it: [ Note it is always good to know what strains of flower are in your products {Sativa, Indica, Hybrid- Then break it down to is it a Kush, Alpin, Sour Space etc– If you can find that information at all. It is also important to note that GOOD Reputable companies provide you as the customer with the lab results so you KNOW what it is your are ingesting} I cannot stress the importance of people educating themselves on this enough]

— CBD tinctures during the day for clarity and pain relief without the high
— Low-dose edibles at night to relax my body and mind before sleep
— Topicals for targeted joint/muscle pain relief

Used with care and respect, this plant medicine can absolutely help restore balance—and yes, it’s still magick, just grounded in science and the body’s endocannabinoid system.

Cannabis carries the gentle fire of calm and restoration. Whether as a tincture, salve, smoke, or edible, it brings us back to center. It embodies the Kitchen Witch’s magic—nurturing, grounding, and warm. Cannabis, when used correctly and respectfully, can do wonders for those of us navigating chronic pain, anxiety, ADHD, insomnia, or autoimmune challenges.

I use a mix of CBD tincturesTHC edibles, and topicals depending on the time of day and what my body needs.

Use in ritual:
🌄 Add CBD to your grounding morning tea for calm clarity.
🌑 Bake with cannabutter and offer a cookie to your altar.
💨 A mindful toke or puff can open intuitive channels, aiding divination or shadow work.

🌌 Divine Guests at the Table: Deities Who Delight in These Offerings

Did you know many deities enjoy partaking in or receiving these gifts?

✨ The Morrígan – Offer a deep mushroom brew to Her as a drink of power, prophecy, and grounding before ritual, allowing the earthy flavors to connect you to the spirit realm and inviting foresight into your journey. [Looks like I will be inviting her in the mornings with Odin. It is important to mention, I am still learning how to honor her as she is a recent addition to my practice.]
✨ Hecate – She appreciates offerings made with intention; a dark chocolate cannabis cookie at a crossroads or during shadow work serves as a potent gesture, enhancing the mystical atmosphere while aiding in introspection and transformation.
✨ Pan, Dionysus, or Cernunnos – Invite them to your fireside with sacred smoke or infused honey cakes, creating a space for revelry and connection that honors their essence, allowing the joyous energy of nature to flow into your gathering and nourish your spirit.
✨ Gaia, Demeter, Freya, & Jord  – Earth and fertility deities often welcome both fungi and flower as symbols of rootedness and growth; an offering of wildflowers paired with forest mushrooms can deepen your bond with these goddesses, celebrating the abundant gifts of the Earth and inviting their blessings upon your endeavors.
✨ Brigid, Frigga, & Hestia – Honor them as a hearth goddesses with a cannabutter-infused tea, speaking words of healing into each stir, as the aromatic steam rises to carry your prayers; this ritual not only nourishes the body but also strengthens the sacred connection to the flames of inspiration and creativity that they embody.

And yes…

🧙‍♂️ Odin Himself

Wodin, the wanderer, the seeker of truth and sacrifice—He too appreciates a strong brew and sacred smoke, finding solace in moments of reflection as he journeys through the realms of existence. With each sip of the rich, dark coffee, he feels connected to the ancestors who walked similar paths, their wisdom swirling in the steam that rises from his cup. The sacred smoke, a blend of ancient herbs, dances around him, wrapping him in a comforting embrace that ignites his spirit and sharpens his mind. In these quiet moments, he contemplates the mysteries of the universe, seeking answers to the questions that have lingered in his heart for ages, and drawing strength from both the brew and the smoke to continue his quest for enlightenment.

Offer Him:
🍄 A rich cup of mushroom coffee infused with intention
🌿 A cannabis offering—perhaps a pinch of flower or a shared puff with focused presence

Every time I’ve made that offering to Odin, I swear He smiles at me afterward. A raven appears. A synchronicity unfolds. A knowing settles in. He sees.

You can even say, “Come sit with me awhile,” and share your morning cup or evening smoke with the divine. They hear you. They feel your offering.

✨ Recipes to Nourish the Body & Spirit

🍄 Mushroom Magick: Brain Boost & Body Balance

I’ve been starting my mornings with mushroom coffee—a gentle, earthy brew that helps with clarity, focus, inflammation, and energy (without the crash or jitters of regular coffee).

✨ Mrs. B’s Mushroom Coffee Recipe ✨

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup hot water or plant-based milk
  • 1 tsp mushroom powder blend (Lion’s Mane + Cordyceps or Reishi is a fave!)
  • ½ tsp cacao powder (optional, but I love it for mood)
  • Dash of cinnamon
  • 1–2 tsp honey or maple syrup
  • 1 scoop collagen or protein (optional)
  • Optional: A shot of espresso if you need a little extra oomph

Instructions:

  1. Heat your liquid of choice until warm but not boiling. [ 165-170 max if you use hot water]
  2. Add all ingredients to a blender or frother.
  3. Blend until smooth and frothy.
  4. Sip mindfully—set your intentions, breathe deep, and let the mushroom magick begin.

✨ Blend, speak gratitude, and sip with purpose. Offer the first sip to Spirit if you feel called.

🧈 Cannabutter – Ritual Ready

(Perfect for baked goods, bedtime tea, or even a dab in oatmeal!)

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup unsalted butter (or coconut oil for dairy-free)
  • 7–10 grams of decarboxylated cannabis (start with a lower amount if new)

Instructions:

  1. Decarb your herb:
Preheat oven to 240°F. Break your flower into small pieces and spread evenly on a baking sheet. Bake for 30–40 minutes, stirring halfway through. This activates the THC/CBD.
  2. Infuse the butter:
In a saucepan or double boiler, melt butter on low. Add your decarbed cannabis and let it simmer on very low heatfor 2–3 hours, stirring occasionally. Do not boil.
  3. Strain & Store:
Let cool slightly, then strain through cheesecloth into a glass jar. Store in the fridge (or freeze if you made a big batch). Label it clearly!

🌙 Start low, go slow. A little goes a long way. Try ¼ tsp at first and see how it feels.

🌿 Add to cookies, tea, or your ritual cakes. Offer a piece to your altar or deity as part of your practice.

🌕 Bringing It All Together – Daily Magic

Plant magic doesn’t always need incense and chants. Sometimes it’s as simple as a sacred cup in the morning to set your intentions, a spoonful of earthy goodness in the cauldron to nourish your spirit, or a quiet moment on the porch under the soft glow of the moon to reflect on your journey.

Whether you’re a wild forest-dweller, fully immersed in the untamed beauty of nature, or a cozy kitchen conjurer, crafting potions and delights within the warmth of your home—or a little of both like me—mushrooms and cannabis are potent allies in our magical practices. These sacred plants ground us in the present, lift us to the realms of possibility, and connect us to the Divine energy that flows through all things.

So, find a comfortable spot to sit down with your sacred cup or your enchanted cookie, whatever form your ritual takes. Light your candle, letting the gentle flame symbolize your intention and openness to spiritual communication. Take a moment to breathe deeply, inhaling the essence of life and exhaling any lingering doubt or distraction. Invite your guides and gods to join you, creating a space filled with love and wisdom. Allow your journey into plant magic to unfold, knowing that every sip and bite carries the potential for transformation and connection. Embrace this sacred moment, and let the adventure begin.

Let the magic flow. 🌿🍄

Much love and many blessings,
Mrs. B
