Let’s talk about blessings. Not just the kind you hear about in churches or read about in sacred texts, but the kind that whisper through intuition, that come in waves of warmth, and show up in crystal shops when you least expect it. These are the blessings that invite us to pause and reflect on our lives, encouraging us to embrace moments of clarity and insight. They manifest as gentle reminders, guiding us to find beauty in the mundane and to appreciate the connections we share with others. Each small act of kindness and every serendipitous encounter can be seen as a fragment of this divine tapestry, nudging us towards greater awareness and gratitude. The world is filled with these subtle gifts, waiting to be acknowledged and cherished, urging us to open our hearts and minds to their transformative power.
In Christianity, blessings are often seen as divine gifts granted through faith in Jesus and walking in his teachings. And for many, that truth is sacred and powerful. But here’s something I need to say loud and clear:
Blessings are not exclusive to Christianity—or to any one religion at all.
Across diverse cultures and beliefs, the concept of blessings manifests in various forms, illustrating the universal desire for connection with something greater than ourselves. Whether you walk with the gods of old, pray to the ancestors, meditate under the stars, or simply strive to be a good human putting positive energy into the world, you can be blessed.
These blessings may take many shapes—Moments of clarity at sunrise, the embrace of loved ones, the beauty of nature, or acts of kindness from strangers. Each of these experiences can be seen as a blessing, a reminder of the interconnectedness of life.
Spiritual practices vary widely, but the core intention often remains the same: to seek, acknowledge, and embrace the goodness that surrounds us. It is essential to recognize that blessings are available to all, transcending the boundaries of organized faiths. Engaging in gratitude, nurturing relationships, and spreading positivity can enrich our lives, allowing us to experience the profound gifts that life has to offer.
In embracing a broader understanding of blessings, we foster inclusivity and appreciation for the varied paths people take in their spiritual journeys. Ultimately, the essence of being blessed enriches our shared human experience, reminding us that we are all deserving of grace and love, regardless of the different beliefs we hold.
I see people question this all the time:
“Can I receive blessings if I’m not religious?”
“Can manifestation and energy work actually bring change?”
“Do the gods hear me if I’m not devoted in a traditional way?”
And my answer? YES. Absolutely.
Some of it is manifestation—speaking your truth and desires into the universe. Some of it is the gods, spirits, or the universe responding in their own way. Every path, every faith, every practice holds the power to align you with something greater, if you’re open to it. And yes, even Agnostics and Atheists are not excluded from this. Because at its root, it’s about energy. Intention. Action. It’s about what you put out into the world.
We often get fed one narrative, especially here in America and other Christian-based cultures. We’re taught that there’s one path to receive favor, a singular route paved with righteous deeds and unwavering faith. One path to be blessed, leading us towards a life filled with abundance and joy. But let me tell you—I am living proof that blessings come in many forms, from many sources. They can breeze in unexpectedly through acts of kindness from strangers, manifest in the support of friends during tough times, or even arise from the challenges we face, which ultimately shape our character and resilience. Life is rich with diverse experiences and perspectives that teach us the true meaning of blessings, reminding us that the divine works in mysterious ways, often beyond the confines of our understanding.
Let me give you a recent, raw example.
As many of you know, I’m not a Christian and haven’t been for many years. My path is earthy, spiritual, ancestral, and sometimes messy. I don’t always remember to do my rituals, and there are moments when I let the days slip by without connecting to my roots. Sometimes I forget to give thanks for the simple joys and the lessons learned through adversity. I’ve missed more than a few “cinnamon-on-the-first” mornings, which once served as a cherished reminder of connection and reverence for the changing seasons. But what I always do is speak to the universe, regardless of the chaos that surrounds me. I put my affirmations out into the vastness, trusting that they will be received. I try to live with purpose and gratitude, even on days when the heaviness weighs me down. I don’t ask my gods for handouts—I ask them for guidance, for signs to illuminate my path, and for the inner strength to do the work myself, knowing that true growth often comes from effort, reflection, and perseverance.
And yesterday… they answered.
We were out celebrating my amazing husband for Father’s Day and made a random stop into a little witchy shop—a crystal store filled with good energy. The moment I stepped inside, I heard that familiar inner whisper:
“Ask if they do broom-making classes. And if they don’t—leave your name anyway.”
So I did.
And that small moment turned into something huge—an invitation to start selling Wise Hazel Design & Apothecary items right there in the shop. A brick-and-mortar opportunity born from nothing more than a whisper, a willingness to ask, and the universe saying, “Yes, it’s time.”
I skipped out of that store like a giddy child, my heart racing with excitement and possibility. The air outside felt vibrant, charged with the energy of the moment. I could hardly believe what had just unfolded. It was as if every step I took was guided by an unseen force, pushing me toward my dreams. I felt a warmth wrap around me—like a hug. It was a comforting embrace that whispered, “Everything is falling into place.”
In that instant, I knew my Dad, who I miss every single day, had a hand in this. It was a profound realization that he was still with me, cheering me on from beyond. I pictured him smiling, proud of this new venture, reminding me to follow my passions and to trust in the mysteries of life. That Hecate was guiding the path ahead of me, illuminating the way through my connection to intuition and ancestral wisdom.
I reflected on how my journey had unfolded not because I meticulously followed a rulebook, but because I stayed open, ready, and trusting. Life has a way of presenting opportunities when we least expect them, and I felt deeply grateful for having the courage to listen to that inner voice. Instead of ignoring it like so many often do, I ventured forward, taking what felt like a giant leap of faith into the unknown.
I imagined the possibilities ahead—crafting unique items infused with love and intention, sharing them with others, and creating a community around my passion for design and healing. The excitement bubbled inside me, as if the universe had conspired to align my dreams with the right circumstances at the right time. That day in the witchy shop was a reminder of the beauty of serendipity, the connections we forge, and the magic that occurs when we embrace both our dreams and the abundant energy surrounding us.
🌿 So here’s what I want you to remember:
You don’t need a religion to be worthy of blessings.
You don’t need to be perfect.
You don’t need to call your practice anything at all.
What you do need is this:
- Honesty in your energy
- Openness in your heart
- Courage to act when the signs come
- And faith—whatever that looks like for you
We are all capable of receiving abundance, joy, and guidance from realms beyond the seen. Your path is valid. Your voice is heard. Your blessings are real.
So wherever you are, whoever you are, whatever you believe or don’t believe…
✨May your heart stay open.
✨May your spirit stay grounded.
✨And may the universe continue to meet you where you are.
Now, if you’ll excuse this Unconventional Momma, I’ve got some products to make, shelves to restock, and magic to weave.
